Anaheim 3
Alright, so AMA Supercross was at Anaheim this weekend for the 3rd and last time. This weekend was the first-ever Breast Cancer Awareness Race. Before the race began, there was a story that needed to be told..a story of a rider who didn't let cancer stop him from doing what he loved.. Grant Langston found out that he had cancer..he shared his story on how he survived the cancer and didn't let it get the best of him and his family. They thought that they might have to give up on the sport, but they didn't and Grant Langston was out there, and racing on Saturday...
Chad Reed, Josh Grant, and James Stewart, still out of the race, points were getting closer and closer together! Andrew Short had a bad wreck last weekend and wasn't able to race...
20 riders...20 laps...1 title, who will take it all....
Heat one came around and Ryan Dungey took that one away from everyone and in heat two, Josh Hill took it. When the Main Event finally came it was up for grabs...When the gate was dropped we were on our way for the Main Event....
First lap, and it was Ryan Villopoto out in front fallowed closely by Josh Hill. Behind them it was Davi Millsaps, Kevin Windham, and Ryan Dungey taking up the end of the top five on the first lap. It didn't take long for Villopoto to take off and leave everyone in his dust, but he couldn't shake Hill., he was right behind him. With Villopoto in 1st and Hill closely in 2nd, there was a battle for 3rd between Millsaps and Windham. Millsaps and Windham going at it for many laps, but when the 7th lap came around, it was then a battle for 2nd. Millsaps and Windham caught up to Hill and the battle was on...but by then, Villopoto was nowhere to be found. Lap 8 came up and still in the lead was Villopoto fallowed by; Hill in 2nd, Windham made his move on Millsaps, which put him in 3rd and Millsaps in 4th and Dungey finally in the picture in 5th. By lap 9 Dungey and Millsaps were fighting it out for 4th...at the end of lap 9, Dungey made the pass on the inside right before the finish corner. Dungey was slowly making his way up the list. By lap 10 it was Windham and Dungey battling for 3rd. But on lap 12, Dungey about to make another move, spins out in the slippery corner, and Windham gets away and Millsaps passes Dungey, putting him in back in 5th. But it didn't take long for Dungey to get back and take 4th away from Millsaps with 6 laps left to go. 2 laps and Villopoto was flying away with the lead ahead of; Hill in 2nd, Windham in 3rd, Dungey in 4th, and Millsaps in 5ht. And that's how they finished out the race...Ryan Villopoto took the win, followed by, Josh Hill in 2nd, Kevin Windham in 3rd, Ryan Dungey in 4th, and Davi Millsaps trailing in 5th. Nick Wey finished 10th, Ivan Tedesco finished 11th, and cancer survivor, Grant Langston finished 13th.
But on the points board, Hill caught up with Dungey, tied at 123, fallowed by; Villopoto -3, Millsaps -25, Brayton -36, Tedesco -36, Windham -37, Short -54, Wey -62, and Hahn -67.
That was Anaheim 3 and they head off to Indianapolis, IN for round 7...
